Not for Profit Organizations

NGO SECTOR – A BRIEF OUTLINE

India has a bustling NGO sector (non-governmental organizations) who render sterling service to society in all humanitarian and social sectors.  NGOs have the choice of operating as public trusts, societies or non-profit companies based on the nature and magnitude of their activities.

The operations of Indian NGOs are largely free of regulation in India.  The bulk of state intervention and regulation is reserved for NGOs which receive donations or capital from outside India.
